Melissa Sue Anderson is a Canadian-American actress who was born on the 26th of September in the year 1962 in Berkeley, California, United States. Melissa is the second born of two daughters who share parents Marion and James Anderson. Her elder sister Maureen is 12 years older than her. When Melissa was seven years of age, her parents relocated to Los Angeles, six years later her parents divorced, after which her mother raised her as a Catholic. While she was still a child, Melissa appeared in Sears and Mattel commercials. Melissa's show business career began when her parents heed the advice of her dance teacher to find her an agent. After her appearance in the commercials,
Anderson was in demand and people wanted to cast her on television roles. Her first role came in 1972(when she was about ten years old) in an episode of a series titled bewitched. When she was eleven years old, Melissa got the role of Mary Ingalls on the show Little House on the Prairie. She starred for eight seasons of the series, only appearing in two episodes of the eighth season. In 1990 Melissa got married to Michael Sloan( a television producer and writer) the couple share two children, a boy and a girl. In the year 2002, the family moved to Canada and became naturalized citizens in 2007. Throughout her career, Anderson has won several awards including an Emmy Award.
