Jessica Capshaw is an American actress born on August 9th, 1976 in Columbia, Missouri. She is the daughter of Robert Capshaw and Kate Capshaw. Her father is a sales manager, business executive, and school principal while her mother is an actress and a producer. She enrolled herself in the Harvard-Westlake School in 1994 and then graduated from Brown University in 1998 with an English degree. She then moved to London and enrolled in the acting classes at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

She started her career by doing smaller roles in movies like The Locusts, Denial, Love Letter before making into the lead roles in the 2001 film Valentine. She made her first TV series debut in ER by appearing in a single episode. She got promoted to the main cast for the 1999 series Odd Man Out. She starred in the TV film The Back Page.
In the meantime, she had opportunities in the Hollywood movies like Minority Report, Blind trust, View from Top, the Groomsmen. Then she got into a dream role on the hit series Grey’s Anatomy. Initially, she was roped in the crew to play the minor role of a paediatric surgeon. But seeing her incredible performance, she was given extension and started as a regular for the series from the next season. In 2004, Jessica married Christopher Gavigan. The couple has three children and is currently expecting the fourth addition to the family.Â
