Born on October 18, 1938, Dawn Elberta Wells was an American actress known for her role as Mary Ann Summers in Gillgan's Island. Dawn Wells actively worked in the entertainment industry from 1961 through 2019. She starred in "The epic tales of Captain Underpants" for the last time in 2019. Dawn is a wholesome beauty with comedic appeal. She was born in Reno, Nevada. She was also a contestant at the 1960 Miss America Pageant after being Miss Nevada in 1959. Aspiring to be a doctor, Miss Dawn first enrolled at Elite Stephen's College in Columbia, Missouri, but soon discovered the Drama Club. Later, she transferred to the University of Washington and earned a degree in theater. Dawn moved to Hollywood in 1964 and was cast as Mary Ann Summers on "Gilligan's Island".
She received the 'Pop Culture Award' for her role in Gilligan's Island. It was on 'The Roaring 20s' (1960-1962) that she made her television debut. In addition to 77 Sunset Trip, she also starred in The Wild Wild West, Three Sisters, Pastor Greg, and The Bold and the Beautiful. In addition to performing in over 66 productions, she has done countless voice-overs, commercials, and Talk shows. She has created the Dawn Wells Film Actor's Boot Camp in Driggs, Idaho, which she founded in 1998. A camp designed for actors already trained in amateur acting and aspiring to become professional actor.
She made her film debut with "The New Interns" in 1964. She has appeared in several other films, including 'Palm Springs Weekend' (1964), 'Return to Boggy Creek' (1977), ' Lover Click to look into! >> Read More... 's Knot' (1996) and 'Super Sucker' (2003). In early 2004, Wells founded and established The spud film institute in Idaho and Wyoming. Not only this, but she also had her own clothing line for the physically challenged called "Wishing Wells Collections".
