Samuel West is an English Actor, Director, and Voice Artist. His full name is Samuel Alexander Joseph West. Samuel was born on the 19th of June in the year 1956. He was born in London, England. He had his schooling from Alleyn’s School in Dulwich, London. He graduated from Lady Margaret Hall of Oxford University in England with English Literature. He was the president of the club named Experimental Theatre Club, a drama society club at Oxford University. Samuel made his Theatre debut at Orange Tree Theatre in the year 1989.

He played Michael in “Les Parents Terribles” by Cocteau. He got a good response from many critics. And from then he started appearing in many dramas. He played Valentine in Tom Stoppard’s “Arcadia” at the National Theatre in the year 1993. He also worked with the Royal Shakespeare Academy for about a couple of months.

He also played the lead roles in “Richard II” and Shakespeare’s classic “Hamlet” by Steven Pimlott. Samuel made his debut as a Director in the plays with “The Lady’s Not for Burning” at the Minerva Theatre in Chichester. He also directed the plays “As You Like It,” “Dealer’s Choice,” and many more. Samuel also worked as a reader or reciter in a few radio shows.

He also performed a few radio dramas. He also directed a play on the radio named “Money.” Samuel had a debut as an actor on-screen with the TV show named “Edward the Seventh” (1975). He later worked in the TV shows like “As Time Goes” (1994), “Longitude” (2000), “The Crimson Field” (2014), and many more. He worked as a narrator and as a supporting actor in Television shows. Samuel made his debut into the film industry with the film “Reunion” (1989) by Jerry Schatzberg. He also appeared in the films like “Open Fire” (1994), “Zoya” (1995), “Complicity” (2000), “Darkest Hour” (2017), and many more movies.

Samuel worked with his parents on screen several times. Samuel had a girlfriend whose name is Laura Wilde, a playwright. They started living together in the year 2007. They had a temporary break in 2011. They again patched up and started living together. They had their first daughter in 2014 and second daughter in 2017. Samuel won the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film “Howard’s End” in 1993. He also bagged the London Critic’s Circle Theatre Actor Award for Best Shakespeare Performance in “Hamlet” in the year 2001. He also won Whatsonstage Theatregoers’ Choice Award for Best Actor for his performance in “Hamlet” in the year 2001.

Samuel won the Talkie Award for “Charlotte Gray” in the year 1999. He won the Audie Award for the “Realms of Gold: Letters and Poems of John Keats” in 2000. He won Spoken Word Award Silver for “The Seeing Stone” and Spoken Word Award Gold for “Birdsong” in the year 2001.
