Born on June 4, 1986 in Hamilton, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada as Ben “Kaplan” Caplan. A Canadian-Folk-Music Singer and famous with his band “The Smokers.” He was born in Hamilton, Ontario Canada and raised in Halifax.
He is considered to be one of the genius since he started to write songs at the age of 13. He first released his album in 2009. His songs depicts most of his experiences and folk-songs that resembles country and real-life events. Ben performed live in 2013 in Byron Bay Bluesfest. He made various tours in Europe and other countries. He made tour and his songs “like a cancer” in Australia, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, UK and Canada.
He receive various awards and nominations. He won the “Entertainment of the Year” in 2012. In 2013, he won “Rising Star Recording of the Year” and “Roots Recording of the Year”. He does have various nominations like Digital Artist of The Year, new Artist, Male Artist Recording of The Year, SOCAN Songwriter of the Year and Folk Recording of The Year. His album entitled “In the Time of the Great Remembering” was released in October 20, 2011. His first music video was released on October 1, 2013.
