Kerry Van Griend is an actor, director, and producer based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He is married to the actress and production designer Donna Lea Ford with whom he has two children. He has done a Bachelor of Science in communications and Media from Calvin University. Kerry then developed an interest in films; therefore, he began to pursue a Master of Fine Arts and Acting from the National Theatre Conservatory. Â He is also a professional house consultant from Passive House Institute.
Kerry started his career as a House painter and sole proprietor in 1985. He also worked as a Construction Labourer at Landmark Enterprises. Thereafter, he started working as a Carpenter Apprentice at Dykstra Enterprises and Coast Mountain Construction Ltd till 1988. Kerry then started his journey in the film industry in 1995 and began to work as an actor, director, and producer.
Kerry has acted in TV shows and movies such as Sliding Away, Supernatural, Once Upon a Time, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, With Child, Almost Human, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Rogue, The Better Man, Alcatraz, Hiccups, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Reaper, Night at the Museum, The Chris Isaak Show, Peacemakers, The Dead Zone, First Wave, The X-Files, and The Last of His Tribe. As a director, he directed a short film called ‘Toke is Cheap’ (2019).
Besides acting and directing, Kerry is also skilled in Drama, Film Production, Screenwriting, Comedy, Music Videos, Cinematography, Improvisation, Creative Writing, Voice Over, Film Editing, and Theatre. His movie ‘Token is Cheap’ won several awards, including the Spotlight Short Film Award for Best Short Film in 2018 and the Stony Brook Film Festival Jury Award in 2019, and was nominated for Best Short Drama at the Leo Awards in 2019.
