John Cazale

American actor John Holland Cazale famously known as John Cazale was born on August 12, 1935 in Revere, Massachusetts, U.S. His parents were Cecilia and John Cazale. He completed his high schooling at Buxton School, Massachusetts. As he was interested in studying drama, he went to Oberlin College and he graduated from Boston University.

Both of them were aspiring actors and they became lifelong friends from the time they spent in communal house. John Cazale and Al Pacino were starred in a one-act play ‘The Indian Wants the Bronx’, directed by Israel Horovitz. For this play, Al Pacino bagged the Obie Award for Best Actor and John Cazale received the Obie Award for Best Supporting Actor. The play was also a big hit. So, the duo Al Pacino and John Cazale started as merely friends and ended up being the actors for films, plays, and theaters. Surprisingly, they together acted in some films too.

John Cazale didn't work for many films and TV shows or TV serials. He lived for around 40 years and featured in just five films in main roles. All the movies in which he starred were nominated for the Academy Awards. As Fredo Corleone, he appeared first in Francis Ford Coppola's ‘The Godfather’ which was released in 1972. With this role, many of the stars including John Cazale and Al Pacino became famous. Even the audience recognize his name with his role in ‘The Godfather.’ He continued his role in the sequel ‘The Godfather Part II’. Again the duo stars, Al Pacino and John Cazale, appeared in ‘Dog Day Afternoon’ in 1975. For this role in the movie, he received the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. Their fans remember them for their comedy in the film. John starred in a 1974 film ‘The Conversation’. It couldn't get much recognition as a film. But John's performance in the movie left a good impression on the audience.

Later, he appeared in the film ‘The Godfather Part III’ which was also nominated for the best picture in Academy Awards.
