Baffling audiences with his witty one-liners and satirical limericks, Craig Theodore Nelson is the exemplar of the theory which suggests that appearances can be deceptive. With a tall and well-built physique, Nelson was naturally endowed to excel at athletics. Born in Spokane, Washington, to a well-off household, he participated in several sporting activities which included baseball, golf, karate and football. Setting his ambition towards a profession in the Central Intelligence Agency, he had started school at Central Washington University studying criminology, from which he diverted to Yakima Valley Community College to study English literature which lasted for a brief time as well. In due course, he unraveled his affinity towards acting and hence, received a scholarship to study acting at the University of Arizona.
Similar to many struggling actors, Nelson had also faced unemployment and despair that led him to work as a security guard for a soap factory. He found his first break as a comic writer, in 1970, at the Tim Conway Show. He became a household name after he vocalized the character of Mr. Incredible belonging to the Disney movie “The Incredibles” (2004). He has also approached small screen drama with flair by playing the role of Hayden Fox in the television series “Coach” for which he received the prestigious Emmy Award. Regretting the shutdown of the series, NBC has ordered a sequel to the cherished sitcom Coach. Nelson was supposed to reprise his role as Hayden Fox and the sequel, primarily, focuses on Hayden Fox’s son. However, eventually, NBC demolished the plans to air the series. He has provided notable performances in other films that include “The Proposal” (2009) and “Blades of Glory” (2007). Besides acting, Nelson is a racing enthusiast and had participated in the 1991 Toyota Celebrity Long Beach Grand Prix and finished third. He has been married twice and shares three children with his first spouse. Two of his children work as published authors. Political talk shows are not devoid of his presence either.
