Plot
The story’s plot revolves around a man named, James King. He is a manager at Barrow Funds. The bank’s owner is Martin Barrow. James is married to Martin’s daughter named Alissa. In their engagement party, James got arrested by FBI for committing fraud and embezzlement. However, James was not guilty as he didn’t commit such a crime. Everyone asked him to accept the crime to shorter his jail sentence. But James didn’t take. He asked judges to give him one month time to settle down his business before going to jail. Meanwhile, James met a man named Darnell Lewis. He runs a small car business. James thinks that Darnell had been to the prison for atleast once in his lifetime. So he offers $30000 to Darnell to learn to survive in the prison. Darnell started James’ training but he was not doing any progress. He asks him to join a local gang named Crenshaw Kings. There they met Darnell’s Cousin who offered James to join Alliance of Whites.
They find out that the people behind this fraud and embezzlement are James’ boss and his wife. Martin and Alissa framed James as a criminal. They sneak into his office and found the evidences of fraud in his computer. They sneak to Martin’s yacht. There, they meet Martin and Alissa. They confessed their crimes. They offere James to run away with them but he refused. Just then, the officers arrive at the scene. They arrest all of them. James got sentenced for 6 months in jail for keeping an illegitimate gun with him.
Star performance
The main character of the story is James King. Will Ferrell plays his character. Throughout the movie, Will did some incredible work by balancing the laughter and intense emotions. He beautifully depicted James ad the protagonist of the movie. Another important character is of Darnell Lewis. Kevin Hart played his role in the movie. Hart has done a terrific acting. His presence made the story line more fun. The chemistry between Hart and Ferrell was brilliant.
Other supporting cast like Craig T. Nelson, Alison Brie, Edwina Findley, Ariana Neal, Erick Chavarria, Tip 'T.I.' Harris, Paul Ben-Victor, John Mayer, Jon Eyez, Nito Larioza, Dan Bakkedahl, Greg Germann, Ron Funches did a fantastic work.
Analysis
Get Hard is a fantastic movie. The story’s plot is riveting. The best part of the movie was the humor. Although the film did contain some slapstick comedy, some people might not find it comfortable to watch. It also has scenes of prison rap. Overall, the movie’s plot was simple to understand and visualize. The acting skills of the main lead were terrific. Other supporting cast have also delivered nuanced performances throughout the movie. The movie does have many interesting characters. The film has an exciting yet intelligent plot. The script’s execution in the movie is fantastic.
The cinematography was awesome. The filmmakers showed the comedic scenes beautifully. The film’s soundtracks are also unique. It fits in the script.
