Calogero Lorenzo Palminteri or “Chazz” Palminteri is an American producer, actor, and screenwriter, known for his work in The Usual Suspects, A Bronx Tale, and Bullets over Broadway. Chazz was born to parents, Lorenzo and Rose Palminteri. Though Palminteri is of Sicilian origin, he grew up in the neighborhood of Belmont in the Bronx. Before his career as an actor took off, Palminteri managed odd jobs such as serving as a nightclub bouncer and participating in Off-Broadway plays. 1988 saw Palminteri fired from a security job for refusing to let Irving Paul Lazar enter a club. Palminteri went on to make an autobiographical one-man show depicting the events he witnessed in his life.
