Bruce Boxleitner is an American television and film actor and is also known for his science fiction thriller writings. He is known for the roles that he played in television series such as How the West Was Won, “Scarecrow and Mrs.King,” “Bring ‘Em Back Alive,” and the cult Disney movie Tron. Born in Elgin, Illinois, Bruce completed his education from the Prospect High School in Illinois, and later on, attended the Theater School at DePaul University. Following which, Bruce made brief appearances in other popular television series such as Hawaii Five-O, Gunsmoke, Police Woman, and Baretta. In 1977, Boxleitner pocketed the role of Luke Macahan in How the West Was Won, which would propel his career landing him roles in Wild Times and East of Eden.
He played the role of the animal collector Frank Buck in the soap opera “Bring ‘Em Back Alive,” until 1983 when he featured in Scarecrow and Mrs. King. The latter would catapult his career into television stardom, grabbing him roles in numerous television serials. In 1994, Bruce played the character of Captain John Sheridan in the popular space opera Babylon 5, for which he was presented with the Saturn Award for the Best Actor on Television. The following years featured him in soap operas such as Touched by an Angel, She Spies, Young Blades, Chuck, Heroes, and Tron Uprising.
During 1986-98, Bruce also worked in the modeling assignments, appearing in various advertisements for Estee Lauder. Boxleitner’s movie career mostly involves TV films starting from 1974, when he played the role of Danny in The Chadwick Family. Later on, he has appeared in Murder at The World Series, The Baltimore Bullet, Kenny Rogers as the Gambler, Tron, the two sequels of Kenny Roger, Kuffs, The Babe, and Double Jeopardy, just to name a few. Bruce also reprised his role of Capt. John Sheridan in the movie-remake of the television series by the same name. Tron Legacy, the sequel to Tron, saw Boxleitner in the lead role. Bruce has also provided with voice-overs for video games such as Kingdom Hearts II and Spec Ops: The Line. The year 2003 saw Boxleitner designated to the National Space Society, as a part of the Board of Governors. Post his divorces to Kathryn Holcomb and Melissa Gilbert; Bruce got engaged to his publicist girlfriend, Verena King.
