Peter Medak

Peter is film and television director born in Budapest, Hungary on 23 December, 1957. He is involved in making and producing English films made in the UK and the USA. He belongs to a Jewish family; his mother is Elisabeth and his father is Gyula Medak, who was a textile manufacturer, back in Hungary. The Hungarian Revolution that occurred in 1956 changed the nationwide government policy, in this year he fled his country and reached England. This changed the course of his life; he joined the film industry when he came to England.

He started from the strata of a trainee, assistant director, and assistant cameraman and reached the position of a director. He started his career by directing television movies; this began after he signed a deal with MCA universal pictures in the year 1963. In this period, he got a chance to observe the work of Alfred Hitchcock. Then in 1967, he entered a deal with Paramount pictures to make feature films.

The first film he made was ‘Negatives’ that released in 1968 and was based on a novel of Peter Everett. This film was a drama and featured actors like Peter McEnery and Glenda Jackson. Some of his notable movies include ‘The Ruling Class’ released in 1972, ‘The Krays’ (1990), ‘The Changeling’ (1980), ‘Let him Have it’ (1991) and others. His movies are of different genres like Drama, Thriller, Black Comedy and others. He has sat on the director’s chair for many TV films and episodes like The Wire, Feast of all saints, Homicide: Life on the Street, ‘Carnivale’ and others. He has played a vital role in movies like The Odd Job, The Babysitter, The Men’s Club, Rome is bleeding and others. His movie ‘The Ruling Class’ won him an Academy Award nomination, for the movie The Krays, he won the Best Director from the Evening Standard awards.

Katherine La Kermance was his first wife; she died in 1970 in London, UK. She bore him two kids. He had two children with his other wife named Carolyn Seymour who is an English actress. He continues to entertain people with his talents; he directs movies, documentaries, plays, dramas and others.
