Darren Lynn Bousman English Actor

Darren Lynn Bousman

Darren Lynn Bousman took birth in Overland Park, Kansas, to Nancy and Lynn Bousman. He completed his high school from Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park and imbibed filmmaking techniques at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. Bousman got betrothed to Laura Bosserman on October 4, 2008, and later married her on January 2, 2010. Like many of his contemporaries, Darren Lynn Bousman also kickstarted his career graph by venturing into short films production. This was the time he decided to learn the nook and corner about filmmaking and thus he joined Full Sail Film School in Orlando, FL, to acquire knowledge about the basics of filmmaking. During this course of time, he continued to produce short films along with his classmates and ultimately he got his chance to direct music videos. Seeing his directorial talents through his music videos, he was offered a chance to direct commercials and as the next big step, he didn’t know he was going to be a part of the biggest horror series of Hollywood. Before establishing himself as a professional filmmaker, Bousman did undergo few hardships. He even worked as a honey wagon attendant for The X-Files and was also a production assistant for Van Wilder before venturing into filmmaking. One can see a steady rise in his career graph to the present zenith of success. It was during 2004 when Bousman had a trigger for his movie script titled “The Desperate”. He began to pitch the idea of the movie to various American Studios, and they found the script to be too violent and the narration being close to the already released horror blockbuster movie Saw. Eventually, he was asked to show his script to Gregg Hoffman, who was the producer of Saw. After reading the script, he was interested in producing the film “The Desperate.” But it was his partners Mark Burg and Oren Koules, who found this script as a perfect opportunity to make a sequel for the Saw movie. Thus Darren Lynn Bousman’s “The Desperate” gradually was turned to Saw II when he flew down to Toronto to kick start his maiden film as a director.  During Saw II Bousman directed a music video “Forget to Remember” for Mudvavyne’s, and this song was used as the lead song on the soundtrack album. Following the commercial success of Saw II and also because of Bousman’s directorial talents, he was roped in to direct Saw III too. He successfully completed the movie that was released on October 27, 2006. Even though Bousman gained laurels through Saw series, he wanted time to prepare for his next project Repo! The Genetic Opera and decided not to work on another Saw series. Despite his decision, he was signed to direct Saw IV by Leigh Whannel on February 19, 2007. Bousman later justified this change in his decision as he would finish directing Saw IV during the pre-recording session of his next film Repo! The Genetic Opera.  In the subsequent years, Bousman occupied himself in many directorial projects. He was enrolled to direct an episode titled “New Year’s Day” for the horror anthology “Fear Itself” show. Being an expertise in the genre of horror, Bousman was also engaged in teaching the newcomers in film direction through Horror Film Boot Camp held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which was initiated on May 7, 2010, and ended on May 9, 2010. He was also associated in directing the remake of David Cronenberg’s Scanners and also a psychological thriller “Ninety” built from the screen book of Scott Millam. Bousman was also allied in directing the remake of a 2010 movie “Mother’s Day” starring Shawn Ashmore, Deborah Ann Woll, and Briana Evigan. Later in 2011, Bousman was roped in as a director for the film 11-11-11 which too gave a commercial success to him. In the following year, he reunited with the writer of Repo! Movie Terrance Zdunich to direct “The Devil’s Carnival,” which had cast most of his Repo!  members. This was a short film that he planned to release as the first installment of a longer series. News about Bousman’s next flick started to float during May 2013 when he was signed in to direct a film entitled Sacrilege, which was again a religious-themed genre next to his 11-11-11. He indulged himself in directing an anthology movie “Tales of Halloween” during 2015 in which he directed a segment, “The Night Billy Raised Hell” which was penned by Clint Sears.
