Oliver Stapleton

Born in London, UK Oliver majored in Psychology from the University of Cape Town. He then took to National Television and Film Institute, Buckinghamshire. From 1966 onwards he worked in South Africa as still photographer. After six years he decided to put his knowledge to practice. From the experience, he had during his stay he wrote and directed a thriller ‘Shadow Play’ in 1980. Gradually he worked in the camera and electrical departments of films. Later on, he did cinematography for short films, commercials, and documentary. His debut film as a cinematographer was ‘Restless Natives.’ This comic film was nominated in drama category of Sundance Film Festival. He was the director of photography for ‘Absolute Beginners.’ He has also worked for the television series ‘The Comic Strip Presents.’ He was the lighting cameraman for six episodes.
