Param Tomanec is an artist in residence at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies (OCHS). He earned a first-class honors degree in film and photography from Westminster University in London. In his dissertation, Patanjali's Yoga Sutras' concept of ekagrata, or single-mindedness, was examined concerning film and photography. The producer of the ground-breaking QATSI trilogy, Godfrey Reggio, is an American-born artist. Together with Dr. Kenneth Valpey, a fellow of the OCHS, Param created the difficult cinematic project Rasa Yatra (49 mins) as part of his degree program. From the Himalayan ranges to Vrindavana, a well-known pilgrimage site 130 miles south of Delhi, is the destination of the poetic audio-visual trip known as the Rasa Yatra.
An academic preview of the movie was shown at the Spalding Symposium on Indian Religions. A picture book bearing the same name is included in the movie. The target of Param is to pursue MA studies in visual anthropology. He had an adventurous spirit and decided to live a monastic life and go on a spiritual quest of self-discovery instead of pursuing a wealthy commercial career in movies. His present repertoire, with its meditative leanings and philosophical layering, reflects the blending of numerous cultures that Param has encountered while traveling through various continents, including Africa, Asia, and Europe. author Sushma Bahl (MBE).
