Peter Philpot was an Australian cricketer who later acted in a few movies. He was born on 21 November, 1934 in Sydney, Australia. He played as a leg-spin bowler and middle-order batter. He initially played for the New South Wales and was later selected for the national team during the 1960s. After retirement, he started working as a coach for the Australian cricket team.

Peter made his debut in a Test Series against the West Indies in the year 1964–65 and overall took 18 wickets in the five Test matches. Against the team of England, he took five wickets at 90 runs in the first innings of the First Test in Brisbane, Australia. Later, he could only take 8 wickets in the first three Test matches of the series and therefore, he was dropped from the team. His highest first-class score was 156 runs for his domestic club New South Wales against Queensland during 1963-64. His best bowling record was 7 wickets at 53 runs against Western Australia in the year 1960–61.

He served as the captain of New South Wales for several matches during the period 1963-64 and 1964-65. Moreover, he also played as a professional in the Lancashire League for Ramsbottom in 1955, 1959, and 1960 and for East Lancashire in 1962. Later, he became a prominent cricket coach in Australia.
