Norman Burton, also credited as Norman Burton, was an American theatre film and television actor, best known for Diamonds Are Forever, Planet of the Apes, The Towering Inferno, and Bloodsport.

City, New York. Known for method acting, Norman pursued acting at The Actor’s Studio, New York. He began his career with stage shows like the musical comedy A Sound of Hunting and Anna Christie, a four act-play by Eugene O’Neill. The acclaimed actor also featured in a play based on Irish playwright Brendan Behan’s first play The Quare Fellow, produced by Jose Quintero.
The actor forayed into movies with the 1956 flick Fright, helmed by W. Lee Wilder. Norman portrayed a reporter named Thompkins in the film starring Eric Fleming, Nancy Melone, and Frank Marth.
His appearance in the film noir Fright resulted in him being offered a slew of roles in television shows and movies. However, even before featuring in the film in a minor role, Burton had appeared in an episode titled Dark Meeting of the American anthology series The Web, aired on CBS.
Although he never won accolades for a significant role, Burton featured in a slew of movies and shows over a long period and had a successful career as an actor. Some of his well-received performances include the sci-fi film Planet of the Apes, where he portrays the Hunt Leader, a gorilla. He re-appeared in the sequel Escape from the Planet of the Apes as an army officer.
