Cregan was born on January 18, 1977, in Vintage, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Okemos, Michigan and schooled at Okemos High School. He trained in singing under Frank K. DeWald and pursued music at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
In 2007, Cregan exchanged wedding vows with Jenn Gambatese, an American actor and singer known for Tarzan (Disney) and the Broadway musical Wicked. The duo has two children named Josephine and Charlie.
He landed his first job in the entertainment field as an emcee for the Nickelodeon show held at Kings Island. On finishing college, he made his debut in Broadway with Rent, a rock musical, and later featured in Grease as Doody, The Secret Garden’s Dickon and The Sound Of Music. In Anything Goes, he featured as Billy and was the Pinball Lad for The Who’s Tommy.
In 2003, Cregan bagged the American edition of the television show Hi-5, initially aired in Australia. He presents the section Making Music, where he elaborates on the basics of music and how to create musical instruments from things available to us. He also dubs his voice for Jup-Jup, Kimee Balmilero’s friend. His role in the show can be likened to those of Tim Maddren, Tim Harding, and Joe Kalou in its Australian version.

The movie was nominated for many awards and bagged the Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Feature Motion Picture.
Curtis is fond of classical music, jazz, and Frank Sinatra, with his favorite musicians being Miles Davis, Pavarotti, and Chet Baker. He is also a fan of the bands Radiohead and U2. Curtis enjoys travelling. He has gone hiking in Hawaii and visited caves via New Zealand. When staying in the New York City, Cregan lkes to go skating on his roller-blades.
