Ahmet Civian Canova popularly known as Civian Canova was a writer, actor, and theatre director of Turkish origin. He was born in Ankara in Turkey in the year 1955. He was the son of Mahir Canova, who was a Turkish director. He graduated from TED Ankara College in 1973. He began his acting career in Yılmaz Güney's film Arkadaş and later studied at Ankara State Conservatory's Theater Department. He was known for both his acting and playwriting and was part of the Turkish State Theatres crew. In 2006, Canova won the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 43rd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival and the 12th Sadri Alışık Awards for his performance in Eve Dönüş. He received the Best Script Award from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 1989 for Kör Buluşma.
He was also named the Most Successful Supporting Actor of the Year at the 15th Afife Theatre Awards for his role in Bury the Dead. The Cevdet Kudret Literature Awards named his play Sokağa Çıkma Yasağı the Best Play in 1997 and he was awarded the Best Playwright Award at the Avni Dilligil Awards in 2000 for the same play. He married actress Açelya Akkoyun in the year 1998. Sadly, he passed away in August 2022 after a long fight with lung cancer at the age of 67 in Istanbul.
