Veteran Singer Vani Jairam Is No More!

Vani Jairam, the versatile singer, breathed her last today. It is heard that she got injured on her forehead. Recently, it was announced that she would receive the Padma Bhushan, one of the highest civilian honors in India. Vani started her career in 1971 and has sung more than 10,000 songs in her career in various languages. She is one of the few singers who’ve sung in more than 15 languages. Vani has sung in 19 languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Tulu, Bengali, Odia, Assamese, Haryanvi, Punjabi, and Marathi.

She has received the Best Female Singer Award thrice at the National Film Awards. Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Odisha governments honored her with Awards for her excellence in singing. In July 2017, at the NAFA 2017 event held at New York City, Vani was honored with the Best Female Singer award. She was married to Jairam. He died in 2018.

Vani has worked with all the leading music composers right, from MS Viswanathan, “Ilaiyaraaja,” “A R Rahman,” “D Imman.” Her last release was for RJ Balaji movie, “LKG,” Tamizh Anthem and Tamizh Thaai Vaazhthu, composed by Leon James in 2019, and for a Malayalam movie, “Madhaveeyam” composed by Sudhi. Her last song is for D Imman’s upcoming film, Malai, for which he visited her at her house and recorded her voice in August 2022. Her unique voice grabbed the attention of music lovers, and her loss is definitely irreplaceable. May her soul rest in peace!
