Jodi No. 1 Season 3 belonged to the reality genre. It was a dance show which used to come on Star Vijay on Friday and Saturday at 8 pm. It started on 18 July 2008. Its contestants were celebrity couples, mostly from the television industry. The show has originally derived its concept from Nach Baliye. The show provided an opportunity to couples to showcase a different side of their persona. Divyadarshini and Deepak were the hosts for the season. Sangeetha, Jeeva, and Aishwarya Dhanush were the judges. The show also contained footages of the couples, their lifestyle, their families & friends, and also of the efforts that they put in for their performances in the competition.

Sarath Chandran had a dancing background and was himself a trained Classical dancer & had also acted in some serials, whereas Preethi had won Season 2 of Jodi No. 1 and was also a trained Classical Dancer.

Sanjay had won ‘Mr. Stylish’ in Chennai Man 2007 contest while Pooja had won ‘Ms. Confidence and Ms Stylish’ in Miss Chennai 2007 contest & had a passion for dancing. Venkat and Nisha were the only real couple of the season and were runners-up in Season 2 and Venkat had also won Best Individual Performer award. Nethran and Aruna Devi both were popular faces of television. Tinku had won Season 2 and was a popular child artist with some films like Japanil Kalyana Raman and some challenging roles in serials, while Santoshi had won Ms Chinnathirai title in 2007 and had also done film Jairam. The season’s finale was shot amongst the sprawling greens and luscious waters of Kerala. A.R. Murugadoss, film director, was the special guest on occasion of the grand finale. Unlike previous seasons, the winner was selected not only by viewers but also on the marks given by Judges. Michael Thangadurai-Hemalata, Tinku-Santoshi, and Sanjay-Pooja made it to the Finale because of their extraordinary performance in Semi-Finals along with Rajesh-Suhasini who were unanimously selected by judges and viewers.

Sanjay & Pooja became the runners-up while Michael Thangadurai & Hemalata became the winners and got Rs. 10 lakhs as prize money. The season saw some new and innovative themes like Kings Style, Romance/ Candle Light, Club Round, Black & White, Western, Freestyle, Kids Special, Celebrity round, Entertainment Round, Hero Special, etc. The show had constant active participation from the audience. The show was worth watching with its spellbinding dance movements and sizzling chemistry.
