Gayathrie Shankar is the current crop of Tamil actress list. She has been seen in leading roles in some Tamil films. She was supposed to debut with the film, Yen Ippadi Mayakkinai, but the film unfortunately didn’t get released. Her first film was 18 Vayasu. The turning point of her career was the film Naduvila Konjam Pakkatha Kanom. Gayathrie has acted in over 5 films in Tamil.
Gayathrie worked in a couple of films during the year 2013, namely Mathapoo and Ponmalai Pozhudhu. Later, she was paired with
Vijay Sethupathi
in the film Rummy. The film also had
Aishwarya Rajesh
. Gayathrie feels that her co-star Vijay Sethupathy is hardworking and sincere.
Gayathrie hails from Bangalore, but her mother tongue is Tamil. Her parents are bank employees. She has a degree in Psychology. The acting prowess of Gayathrie is yet to be seen.
Gayathrie was just studying in 12th standard, when she received film offers. It was like a dream for her and once she mentioned that she took up acting just for the sake of it and never actually planned. She has also revealed that stage fright and agitation over public speaking affected her, but she came out of that once she entered the film industry.
Gayathrie had confessed that, she is like a gypsy by heart and would have taken up something related to psychology if she was not an actress.
When she was studying in 12th standard she got the film En Ippadi Mayakkinai, but the film was not released and hence in the gap she pursued her degree, much to the happiness of her mother.
Gayathrie owes to director Krishna for making her act without fear. She had 4 months training in acting. Later she was not afraid to face the camera. She has big dreams after En Ippadi Mayakkinai. Gayathrie was very much involved in the movie.

, Nasureedin Shah and Rajinikanth. She wants to work with Maniratnam, Goutam Menon, Murugadoss and to name a few.
