Ek Aur Mahabharat or One More Mahabharat in English is an Indian TV series that is based on Mahabharata. The serial was broadcasted on Zee TV channel in 1997 under the direction of Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. He was the head of Zee TV channel at that time but the show was terminated after airing 14 episodes because the advertisers failed to response. This serial was unable to make a success like the television epic Chanakya, but Ek Aur Mahabharat try every hand to depict the clarity and the moral of Mahabharata, however, it was rejected by the audience so the show has to stop at the very early stage.
Ek Aur Mahabharat is a religious epic which primarily focuses on the life of Dharma and Karma. Dharma basically means, “refer to one’s duty in this life”. A person’s dharma may vary according to the class, family and the time of your life, while Karma refers to the actions that one does in relation to a person’s dharma. In a sense, dharma could be seen as one’s lifelong task and karma are the steps that one has to take to be able to finish that task.
The Mahabharata teaches a person to avoid doing any kind of injustice with another person and it also charges a person to battle against the wrong. The story is a tale about Lord Vishnu’s eight avatars where he plays a character of a normal human being. It is a battle between the truth and a lie which is actually a battle between Pandavas and Kauravas who are fighting for the throne. Pandavas won the battle because of their courage and they fought only for justice. Krishna played the character of Sarthi (driver) of Arjun. Pandavas has five brothers namely, Yudhistir, Bheem, Arjun, Nakul and Sahdev. Each one of them was an expert and specialized in their roles in Mahabharata. During the fight, Lord Krishna has done some kind of injustice deeds but he says that what he did is for the sake of justice and sometimes, one needs to go beyond his borders. Lord Krishna states that Mahabharata will not be just a fight, but it will be a fight to establish Dharma and Karma among society.
