Ashwini Kalsekar is an Indian actress who is very famous for doing soap operas and films. She was born on January 22, 1970 at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She was the daughter of a bank employee, Anil Kalsekar. She graduated her Bachelor of Arts in Bombay on the year 1991. Ashwini pursued her theatre career on year 1991 to 1994 as a backup. Then from 1992 to 1993, she is a backup to
Neena Gupta. She is also a trained theatre actress by Muzammeel Vakil in 1992 to 1995. Besides acting, she is also a good and trained dancer of Kathak. Ashwini was married twice. First is with theatre actor,
Nitesh Pandey from 1998 to 2002. Second is with television and film actor, Murali Sharma.
Ashwini got her fame when she acted in the Indian historical drama series,
Jodha Akbar as Maham Anga. She acted in her first Marathi film, Tula Jhapar La in 1996, followed by various Marathi films where she appeared on a supporting role. In 2003, she was an intelligent officer on the movie,
Love Story of a Spy. Some of her films include Khakee and Musafir in 2004, Kisna, Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Apaharan in year 2005. She played as Mrs.

Ashwini started as a television actress. She first appeared on the serial drama, Shanti in 1995 prior to her appearance in Tula Jhapar La in 1996. Then she also did the TV series, Farz and appeared as Draupadi in the epic series of
Ek Aur Mahabharat on Zee TV. She was later seen in Naya Zamana and appeared as Shalaka Black Cat in Shaktimaan. She also did few episodes of the crime detective series, C.I.D in 1998 as Asha. She was also seen in K. Street Pali Hill as Misha and on the television series, Siddhant in 2004. After two years, she made a comeback on the television as Jigyaasa on the Ekta Kapoor’s Indian soap,
Kasamh Se in 2006. She was also in the television series, Achanak 37 Saal Baad, Jeete Hai Jiske Liye, Virrdh, Parrivaar, Anjaane,
Jhansi Ki Rani, Ganga Ki Dheej, and
Afsar Bitiya and up to this time, she was still part of the historical drama series, Jodha Akbar on Zee TV where she played the role of Maham Anga. She was also the jury in the Marathi comedy show, Fu Bai Fu in 2013.
Ashwini got the Best Actress in a Negative Role in the Indian Telly Awards from 2006 to 2007 for her appearance as Jigyasaa in Kasamh Se.
