Chidambara Rahasiyam was one of the most popular thriller series, which was written and directed by Naga. A weekly tele- serial, was aired on SUN TV in the year 2004. The serial was also dubbed in Telugu as ‘Chidambara Rahasyam.’ The director Nagarajan ( also called as Naga in the television industry) was well-known for bringing up such exciting serials. His other serials like Marma Desam and Rudra Veena were also the big hits during that time. ‘Chidambara Rahasiyam’ was considered as one of the top-rated Thriller TV serials and had successfully completed more than 100 episodes.
Apparently, most of Naga’s serials was based on a different storyline like Nadi Josiyam (Palm leaf astrology), Nava (nine) Bashana Lingam, Palmistry, Varmakkalai, Kalpavriksham, etc. He had also proved that he was the best when it came to making comedy serials like Ramani Vs Ramani and Veettukku Veedu Looti, which was produced by K. Balachander. The background music was composed by A.R.Reihana , who is also the sister of A.R. Rahman, which was extraordinary. The story of Chidambara Rahasiyam revolves around the faith in Nadi Josiyam / “Olai Chuvadi” where many people come to look for a medicine in order to cure HIV Positive patients (AIDS), which they believe is available in those “Chuvadis”.
A young journalist (Somu) who works for a magazine called “Neithal”, a Computer Specialist (Akash) working as a specialist in biometrics and digital imaging, Y. G. Ram, aged 58 years, is a Television Artist and a Management Trainer. He has done around 35 films, including the Shah Rukh Khan’s Bollywood hit “Chennai Express”.He is one of the prodigies of “Iyakkunar Sigaram”. Krishna (as Somu):Krishna had previously made his debut with the Director K. Balachander in his serial “Sahana” and then acted in Chidambara Rahasiyam.
He is also currently acting in a serial called “Deivamagal”. She has also participated in a dance reality show along with her husband “Chetan”. Her role in Chidambara Rahasiyam was originally played by Malavika Avinash. A very peculiar character, who contracts HIV (AIDS), while trying to do a research and how she plays her character throughout the serial was well projected. She had a lot of scope for performance and she completely capitalised on it which opened up doors for her in all the other serials of K.Balachander.
