Plot
Kaali runs a provisional store in Madurai. He is married to Kalaivani and has kids. Kaali was once a henchman in Periyavar’s huge gang. He is now away from rowdyism and has been leading a peaceful family life. Meanwhile, SP Arunagiri decides to encounter Periyavar’s son Kannan and has been waiting for an opportunity. After knowing this, Periyavar pleads Kaali to save his son and murder Arunagiri. Initially, Kaali didn’t agree to this. However, Periyavar’s words melt Kaali, and he agrees to it. Arunagiri plans to encounter Kannan, and at the same time, Kaali plans to kill Arunagiri. Who will win? Who is Kaali, actually? The rest of the story deals with this.
Star Performance
Vikram’s performance is subtle and natural. Dushara has given a measured performance, which her role needs. SJ Surya and Suraj have done their part well.
Analysis
The revenge story takes place in one night. The screenplay is decent and moves at a perfect pace. The director extracted the performances from the actors in the right measurement. Almost all the stars showcased their performance from a different perception, which we hadn’t seen before. The action sequences are good, and the climax entertains the action lovers. The cinematography is good. The handheld shots make us feel that we are travelling with the characters. The BGM is perfect, and it elevates many scenes. If the flashback scene had been crispier, it would’ve been better.
