Yaakkai is the Tamil thriller film directed by Kuzhandai Velappan. Krishna Kulasekaran and Swathi Reddy play the lead roles in this romantic thriller. Prakash Raj, Radha Ravi, Guru Somasundaram, “M. S. Bhaskar,” “Marimuthu” and “ Singampuli” are also in the cast. Yuvan Shankar Raja composes the music and Sathya Ponmar cranks the camera. Plot

The film has two different stories and both the stories meet at a point. Krishna falls in love with Swathi and this is again a love at first sight. Being impressed by her caring nature, Krishna falls for her. Their love track goes in a special and romantic way. On the other hand, Prakash Raj is a sincere cop, who is in charge of investigating a murder case. While his investigation is going on, he gets a new clue. Then Prakash's plot links with Krishna - Swathi's plot. How these two stories are linked and what happens next is the rest of the plot. Watch the interesting romantic thriller in theaters.

Star Performance

Prakash Raj and Guru Somasundaram excel in their performances. Swathi looks pretty and has expressed well. Krishna’s character is with multiple shades and he also had emoted well.

Analysis

Kuzhandai Velappan’s script deals with the medical scam and romance. He has dealt both of them equally and perfectly. Krishna and Swathi’s romance is a bit lagging from the reality, as Krishna always giggles when he sees Swathi. Apart from this, everything is perfect in Velappan’s side.

What’s There?

  • Performance of the stars impresses the audiences
  • Excellent music and the background score by Yuvan Shankar Raja
  • Krishna – Swathi pair looks good
  • Sathya Ponmar’s cinematography takes us deep into the scenes

What’s Not There?

  • Krishna’s giggles should have been avoided

Verdict

The director has mixed both romance and thrill in right proportions. The medical scam – romance thriller will be a better choice to spend your weekend. Watch the film! You will not be disappointed!
