Swathi Reddy is an actress and TV presenter from India. She was known as Colours Swathi when she was doing the Telugu TV show, ‘Colours’, which was aired on Maa TV. Swathi was born on April 9, 1987, in Vladivostok, Russia. Her first name was Svetlana and then changed it to Swathi. Her father was working as a submariner from the Indian Navy. Then they moved to Mumbai and afterward, in Visakhapatnam where she spent her childhood days. When she was in her 11th standard, she moved to Hyderabad and studied at St. Mary’s College and finished Biotechnology. After taking the EAMCET test, she started on TV at 17. She hosted ‘
Colors’ and because of the good feedback from the viewers, they extended the show, and it became a primetime show. She has finished over 150 episodes.
Swathi made her debut in doing the supporting roles. She was introduced as a lead star in the Tamil film, ‘
Subramaniapuram’ in 2008. Then later, the film was dubbed as ‘Ananthapuram 1980’. Her performance in this movie was critically acclaimed and then she started acting in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. She got the Telugu’s Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her character in Ashta Chamma.
Swathi is also a voice over artist and a playback singer. She dubbed for the film, ‘
Jalsa’ for Ileana D Cruz in 2008. Her voice was also used in the animated software tutorial for promoting the HIV/AIDS awareness, which was created by the TeachAIDS in 2010. Then, she became a playback singer and renders her voice for the songs. The songs were used for the OST of her comedy films, ‘Katha Screenplay Darshakatvam Appalaraju’, and ‘
With the recent film “Swami Ra Ra”, she is in the top priority for all small and medium budget filmmakers. Adding to this is her Malayalam movie, “Amen” which is also a hit. She couldn’t excel in her career in tune with her talent. As she said in an interview, “I prefer good command over the language in which you work,” she had to learn the Telugu language as she spent much of her life out of Andhra Pradesh.
