Plot
Ramsay is married to Shwetha and has a 4-year-old son. Mariam, a woman from an orphanage, is appointed as the caretaker of Ramsay’s son Rishi. At first sight, Ramsay is attracted towards Mariam. He tries to take advantage of her, but the woman escapes from the embarrassing situation. Ramsay feels that Shwetha would come by his way to reach Mariam and hence decides to do something out of the thought. What is his plan and what happens to Shwetha and Mariam? The rest of the plot deals with this.
Star Performance
SJ Surya fits well in character. We have seen him doing a psycho role in “
Spyder

.” But, this is different. His approach towards each of his characters is really appreciable. Nandita did her best and Regina fits well in the role and has given her best.
Analysis
The movie was shot when there was a craze for horror movies. Thankfully, it got released late as a solo performer! Unlike the regular horror-comedy stories, this has some different situations and approaches, which we haven’t guessed. The characters are designed well. However, Nandita’s role should have been written well with some more importance. Artists’ selection is fantastic and they have given their best. Black comedy works out well. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music takes us some decades back. The cinematographer and editor had done a good job. Although the movie has a lot of pluses, we feel that the climax should have been better.

Verdict
Nenjam Marappathillai is one of the good Selvaraghavan movies. The first half has the Selvaraghavan touch and the second part is different. With a good set of artists, the film is watchable, once!
