Mersal” is the action thriller film co-scripted by “ Baahubali” scriptwriter, “K. V. Vijayendra Prasad” and Ramanagiri Vasan along with Atlee Kumar. Besides scripting, Atlee directed Mersal. This is his second movie with “Vijay” after “ Theri.” The film has the music composition of “ A R Rahman.” Thenandal Studio Limited produced the film on a large scale. GK Vishnu is the cinematographer and Ruben is the editor. The film stars with Samantha Ruth Prabhu, “ Sathyaraj,” SJ Surya, Nithya Menen, Kajal Aggarwal, “ Vadivelu,” Kovai Sarala, Hareesh Peradi, Cheenu Mohan, Naan Kadavul Rajendran, Misha Ghoshal, Yogi Babu and “Sathyan." Anal Arasu is the action choreographer.

Vijay plays triple roles. One is the father and two, his sons. Father is a Panchayat leader. One of the sons is a magician and the other is a doctor. In a particular situation, the brothers were parted. How did they part? Who cares them? How did they meet? Did they reunite? Watch the Mersal movie in the silver screens!

Star Performance

Vijay has again proved that he is a mass hero. Although there are three heroines, Nithya attracts the crowd with her top notching performance. Sam and Kajal are just the template heroines. SJ Surya has performed well. Vadivelu and Kovai Sarala had done the character roles and they had done justice to the given roles.

The film directed by Atlee has a predictable story. Right from the opening scene till the climax there is no suspense. Yet the dialogues and the revelation of the medical atrocities impress the crew. It is yet another mass entertainer for Vijay.

What’s There?

  • Vijay… Vijay and Vijay
  • Nithya Menen impresses the audiences
  • Rahman’s Aalaporan Tamizhan and the BGM are super
  • Execution by Atlee is good
  • Audiences love the Climax scene and the whistle sound tears the eardrums

What’s Not There?

  • Flashback portions are lengthy
  • No twists and turns and it is a flat story

To be frank, the film has nothing special except Vijay. When many films have come out in the same genre, Vijay’s presence makes the movie move faster. In short, Mersal is a Mass entertainer for Vijay Fans!
