Plot
Basheeruddin (Basil Joseph), also called Bachu, is a struggling businessman who lives with his family in Kerala. His father, Kamaruddin, works in the Gulf country. Now, his father wants to return to India. Bachu’s parents expect him to take up all the responsibilities of his family. They want him to go to Qatar to earn money. However, Bachu does not want to go anywhere out of Kerala. He wants to do his own business in his hometown and lead a simple life with his family.
He starts a business to prove himself, but soon things turn dark for him when Covid-19 comes. All his business plans are deeply affected by the coronavirus. Moreover, a terrible event affects the family. Bachu’s father dies in Qatar, and he has to bring his body back to his hometown.Â
What will Bachu do now?
Star Performance
Basil Joseph looks excellent in his character of Bachu. He perfectly shows all the emotions and expressions. The way he shows ego, pain, guilt, and several other emotions is very appealing to the viewers. This is the best performance of Basil.Â
Sreeja Ravi, who played the character of Bachu’s mother, gave a fantastic performance with the required expressions. Indran perfectly executed his part. Binu Pappu and Fara Shibla look decent on screen. Sudheesh and Jaffer Idukki tried their best for this film.
Analysis
The difficulties faced by the people of Kerala during the coronavirus are depicted perfectly in this film. It takes us back to the coronavirus time and reminds us of the masks, lockdowns, and other protocols. Many people suffered a lot of pain by losing their close ones. The businesses of people were deeply affected.Â
The film contains a lot of emotions. Many films have been released on the pandemic in Malayalam film industry, but this one is outstanding because of the presentation. The struggle of Bachu is very relatable to the viewers and makes them emotional. The scene in which Bachu's mother requests him to show her husband for the last time is very emotional. The cinematographer captures the coastal life of Kerala with perfection. The songs are soothing to the ears.
