Analysis
Lal Jose has a long collaboration with Dileep. They have worked together in seven movies. That’s the reason why you will find some similarities with his previous films. There are some really hilarious scenes, and comic timing of Dileep is appreciable but at some points, this laughter turns artificial. When we consider direction, it must be said that the director has failed to impress. Editing is below average and we find it difficult to establish a link between two scenes. The script offers many twists to the story, but it only adds to the mess. Music by Prashanth Pillai annoys us. The camerawork deserves appreciation as some visuals are appealing.
Star Performances
Dileep has acted well and exactly fits in the role of Aby. His comic timing is what binds the audience, but he lacks in emotional scenes .One fails to connect with him when he tries to be emotional. Rima Kallingal has done justice to her role, but she seems much more sincere than required. Parvathy Nambiar debuts with this movie but fails to make an impact. Rest of the supporting cast are all average with their performances. The story is not that bad, but the script and direction let it down.
What's there ????
1. Dileep's acting and humor elements are the highlights of the movie.
2. The story has a modern touch which is usually not seen in Malayalam industry.
3. Visuals are stunning and superb.
What's not there ????
1. Too many twists and their simultaneous disclosures confuse the audience.
2. The climax is stretched and could have ended much early.
3. Some humor elements are artificial and only annoy you.
4. Songs of the movie are too loud.
5. Emotional scenes reveal poor direction.
Verdict
'Ezhu Sundara Ratrikal' doesn't deliver what’s expected from Dileep's film and could be only watched if you don't have anything worthwhile to do and want to enjoy some gags.
