Real life couple Dileep and Manju Warrior's chemistry could be rejoiced in their pre - wedding movie 'Ee Puzhayum Kadannu' directed by Kamal.

Plot

Anjali ( Manju Warrier Manju Warrier is a South-Indian film actress, born >> Read More... ) lives with her two elder sisters (Mohini and Chippy) and grandmother (Lakshmi Krishnamurthy). Her father is a music teacher. She initially meets Gopi (Dileep) when he shifts to her neighborhood. The initial hatred between the two soon blooms into love. But the road to their marriage is not that easy because of the society where a girl can only get married if her elder sisters are married. So Gopi starts finding a suitable groom for Anjali's sisters. He succeeds in finding one for Mohini who is dumb, but the marriage fails terribly. But one of Gopi's friends loves Mohini and marries her. A twist in the tale comes when Anjali's stepbrother (Meghanathan) is accidentally killed by Gopi when he is trying to flee with Anjali's jewellery. Aware of Gopi's crime, Anjali hides it from everyone because her second sister (Chippy) is soon to get married to her lover and this truth could spoil everything. But still the police come to know about his crime and he is arrested on the wedding day of Chippy. But Gopi is only imprisoned for five years because this killing was not a murder but an accident. And after five years when Gopi is set free, he marries Anjali with the consent of her family and lives happily ever after.

Analysis

In late 90's, this was a very fresh storyline. That's the reason audiences took it handily. Kamal's direction added all the flavors like romance, action, humor. Production values of Kannan, Editing by K. Rajagopal and P.Sukumar's Cinematography have all excelled in their field. Like typical 90's movie, Ee Puzhayum Kadannu also has nine songs for which credit goes to Music Director, Johnson. But the chemistry between the lead Dileep and Manju Warrier stole away all the limelight.

Star Performances

Dileep is an all-time superstar, but in his early years of acting also, he acted with great maturity and carried forward his role well. But the female lead, Manju Warrier stole the show with her performance. She even won many prestigious awards for her Anjali's role. On - screen chemistry of the couple is sizzling. The story is very simple but had something new for the audiences back in 1996. Its success was the reason for remaking it in three other languages ( Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu ) with different names.

What's there ????

1. Acting performances of Dileep and Manju Warrier are definitely a plus.

2. Their On- Screen Chemistry makes it a must watch.

3. Music by Johnson adds to the success as all the songs are melodious.

4. Technical departments like Editing, Cinematography, Direction, etc. have all put their best foot forward.

5. Although the story is simple, it won't bore you at any point.

What's not there ????

All the attention has been diverted to highlight the characters of the lead couple. Hence the supporting cast has nothing much to offer.

Verdict

Ee Puzhayum Kadannu is a hit movie as it offers the audience a perfect blend of all the elements one wants to rejoice in a typical love story. Rating - 3.5 / 5
