Plot

Mahindra Singh Holda or Montu is a Physical education teacher at a school in Haryana. He is very lazy. He does not care about his students’ physical education. He only cares about his salary. He used to hang out with another teacher called Shukla. The school never took physical education seriously. During Valentine's Day, he disturbs the couples. Even he also troubles the married couple. One married couple convinced him that they were married and had a daughter. They called their daughter to speak with him, but he did not listen to them. He instead clicked a photo and published it in the newspaper. The next day, Neelima Mehra arrives at school and is appointed as a computer teacher. Montu falls in love with her. But she is the daughter of that married couple who he published the photo in the newspaper. He tried to apologize and was impressed. She does not accept his apology easily. After so many struggles, Neelima finally accepts Montu’s apology. She now befriends him. Later a new physical education teacher arrives at the school. Sports are compulsory now. Schools should be strict about physical education. The principal tells Montu to be an assistant to the new teacher. Because the new teacher has more experience in sports than Montu and he even has a degree in sports. Will Montu become the lastest sports teacher assistant? What happens to the relationship of Neelima and Montu? The rest of the story deals with it.

Star Performance

Rajkumar Rao did an incredible performance in the film. His acting never disappoints his fans. His Haryanvi accent was stylish and dashing. Nushrat Bharrucha did an excellent performance in the movie. Her role plays a very significance in the movie . Her Haryanvi was unexpected. Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub did an outstanding performance in the movie. His fitness and power as a physical education teacher were real and natural. Saurabh Shukla did a brilliant performance in the movie. A funny side character for the main lead actor. He portrayed this role very hilariously. All the other actors were as good as the main lead actors.

Analysis

The message of the film was great. The central theme of the film is sports, or physical education are as important as studies. But the storyline was weak. The storyline was predictable. There was no suspense in watching this film till the end. The film’s initial name was Turram Khan, but the filmmakers changed the film name to Chhalaang for unknown reasons. The film has unnecessary romantic scenes, which makes the movie lengthy. The film shows the natural beauty of Harayana. The film also shows the real problems happening in schools nowadays. The background music and songs were excellent. But it did play much impact in the movie. The dialogues in the film were not as great as expected.
