Plot
Bheed throws light on the horrific events that took place after the announcement of the first lockdown. We are introduced to Inspector Surya, who has been assigned a checkpost on one of the state borders to ensure that no one crosses the borders illegally. What seemed like a regular duty turned out to be one of the most realistically traumatic events of Surya’s life.
He is met with people from different areas of life, all desperate just to cross the border. There is a rich woman, an ailing patient, a group of middle-class workers, and a little girl with her drunkard father. As Surya encounters each one of them, he realizes the plight of each person and now there is only one thing he must do. He makes it his life mission to help each one of them. But, is it really possible?
Will Surya sacrifice his morals for them?
Will each one of them reach their home?
Star Performances
Bheed is an exceptionally creative film often praised for the noteworthy performance of the characters. Rajkumar Rao and Pankaj Kapoor are the two names that add to the glory of this film’s success the most. Rajkumar’s portrayal of an ethical but young cop clearly reflected experience and finesse. The other actors who deserve accolades include Bhumi Pednekar, Ashutosh Rana, and Kritika Kamra. The ensemble cast really added to the beauty of this masterpiece.Â
Analysis
Bheed is a bold effort of the director to bring forward the pain and horrific situations that people faced during lockdown. It not only focuses on economic or social causes but also throws light on the emotional turmoil that everyone experienced. This movie has a perfect resemblance to the harsh reality of that time and it hasn’t been sugarcoated a bit. It also shows a striking contrast between the different classes that exist in the society.
First of all, Anubhav Sinha is a mastermind; The well-structured execution of the plot and the attention to detail in the script are phenomenal and accurate. Also, the monochrome cinematography sets the tone for a tragically pleasing movie. The music pieces just enhance the gloomy effect and intensifies the emotions depicted in the movie.
