‘Stree 2’ On Its Way To Be 2024’s First Hindi Blockbuster!

‘Stree 2’ has collected more than 330 crores from India itself in terms of gross collections. At the end of the 2^nd week, the total gross collections from India equal to 341.91 crores, almost 7 times more than its original budget of 50 crores. With the overseas collection taking the total to more than 400 crores, Stree 2 is officially the first blockbuster of Hindi cinema this year. The highest grossing movies before ‘Stree 2’ were ‘Fighter’ and ‘Shaitaan’. But while ‘Fighter’ barely managed to recover its budget, ‘Shaitaan’ was a commercial success, but not big enough to become a blockbuster.

Since there is no major release until Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’ in October [unless ‘Emergency’ emerges as a box office surprise], it would be interesting to see if ‘Stree 2’ manages to breach the coveted figure of 500 crores or not, and possibly surpass the likes of ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’.
