Plot
The story's plot revolves around a singer Amar Singh. He belonged to a Dalit low-income family from Punjab. He and his family worked in a sock manufacturing company, which was barely enough for them. From his childhood, he always wanted to pursue career in music. One day, he fortunately got out of his comfort zone and started working towards the thing he desired the most.
Amar collaborated with many singers who helped him in building contacts. He started working under a well know singer, Jinda. Jinda recognised Amar’s talent and began using his lyrics in his songs. However, he didn’t give any credit to Amar. Amar worked under him for years. Fortunately, one day he got a chance to perform the song ‘Chamkila’. The Audience went wild. They wanted to listen to Amar’s version more than the original one. His voice was soothing. The audience recognised his talent. However, in the end Amar Singh was assassinated.
Star performance
Amar Singh is the main character of the story. Diljit plays his character. He depicts Amar perfectly as a deserving musician of Punjab. The balance between the emotions of his character is palpable. He delivered a nuanced performance keeping the audience focused. Parineeti Chopra as Amarjot Kaur is the main cast of the film. She played the role of Amar’s partner. Parineeti delivered a fantastic performance in the film. Her presence made the storyline more interesting. Other supporting casts like Nisha Bano as Sonia, Robbie Johal as Kikar Dalewala, and Rahul Mittra as DSP Bhatti have delivered nuanced performances.
Analysis
Amar Singh Chamkila is a Hindi-based biographical film. The plot of the story revolves around a famous musician and his assassination. The storyline is quite intense and exciting. It makes the movie more authentic. The pace of the film is problematic. The film is watchable.
