Plot

7-year-old Yaman Shastry lives in his grandparents' care. His parents live in another city and visit him on weekends. Yaman's father gets an opportunity to settle down in the United States. Things get bitter and twisted as Yaman's grandparents are unwilling to let Yaman go, leading to a legal battle.

Star Performance

Paresh Rawal and Kabir Pahwa have delivered an extraordinary performance showing the bond between a grandfather and his grandson. Shiv Panditt and Mimi Chakraborty have done a great job in their role as parents of a child who stays away from them. Kabir Pahwa brings smiles to the audience with his acting and charm. Amruta Subhash stands out with her performance as a lawyer. Neena Kulkarni's screen presence adds interesting aspects to the movie. The rest of the cast have all played their roles perfectly.

Analysis

The story revolves around Yaman (Kabir Pahwa) and his life with his grandparents (Paresh Rawal and Neena Kulkarni). The movie perfectly captures the beautiful relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren. The story takes a turn when Yaman's parents (Shiv Panditt and Mimi Chakraborty) decide to settle in the United States, and his grandfather (Paresh Rawal) doesn't permit Yaman to leave due to their emotional bond. Especially the scenes where the son (Shiv Panditt) struggles to watch his father being interrogated by the lawyer are very well-executed. Dialogue delivery and acting of Amruta Subhash as a lawyer is extraordinary. The movie is an emotional roller-coaster ride for the audience. Most scenes in the movie are relatable, especially to the couple living in urban areas. The film makes the audience ponder on the principle of parenthood and the extent to which law and order should be able to decide a child's fate. This film is a remake of a Bengali film named "Posto," directed by the same director duo.
