Plot
Chandu considers himself the unluckiest guy in the world. He is not wrong either, for every attempt to change his life ends in a disaster. He finally gets one opportunity right. But that puts him on the run from his family, the police, as well as the media. How will Chandu get out of the mess?
Star Performances
The camerawork and the supporting cast are the only good things that somehow make this film watchable.
They try their best to cover up for the mess created by the writers.
Analysis
On the same day as ‘Madgaon Express’ and ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ hit the silver screens, ‘What a Kismat’ somehow made space for itself in a few theatres. The movie revolves an unlucky guy, whose latest attempt to change his life makes him a ‘fugitive’ for no fault of his. Wait, haven’t we heard this before?
That is practically the basic plotline of every tenth comedy film made in Indian cinema. How is ‘What a Kismat’ any different from the rest?
‘What a Kismat’ begins on a decent note, showing the tragedy of a simpleton in a hilarious way. The first half is nothing out of the blue, but the comic elements in the plot do make up for it. However, it is towards the interval that things take a turn for the worse. For the main protagonist of the movie, the less said, the better.
The runtime of the movie is not very long. However, the lopsided editing makes the experience for unbearable for many viewers. The second half is anything but impressive, and some moviegoers may even heave a sigh of relief when the end credits start rolling.
Is there anything even good for the film? The cinematography of this movie is surprisingly decent for a movie of this scale. While the lead protagonist of this movie may not be upto the mark, the supporting cast does try their best to make up for the mess made. Tiku Talsania and Bharat Dabholkar do justice to their roles, and try to make this film watchable.

‘What a Kismat’ is a comedy drama that had the potential to surprise the audiences. However, an underwhelming script, coupled up by terrible direction prevented it from doing so. Only the supporting actors tried their best to make the overall experience somehow bearable.
