The story continues from where it was left in the first part. In the previous film, Karamveer ( Ayushmann Khurrana This Vicky donor worked as radio jockey, Video joc >> Read More... ) is employed in a call center. In this film, Karam is jobless and lives with his father, Jagjit (Annu Kapoor). They survive on the money earned through religious events. His father has to pay Rs 40 lakhs to the bank and has also taken loans from other people. Karam and Pari (Ananya Panday) love each other and want to marry. But Paris’s father does not agree to their marriage. He tells Karam that he can marry Pari only when he is debt-free and after he credits his account with Rs 25 lakhs. He has to do this within six months.
Things become interesting when Karam’s friend Smiley (Manjot Singh) advises him to disguise himself as a woman and become a bar dancer. Karam becomes Pooja and gets a job at Sona Bar. On the other hand, Smiley is in love with Sakina (Anusha Mishra). However, her father, Saleem (Paresh Rawal), tells him that he will accept their love only after his son Shahrukh gets out of depression. Smiley asks Karam to help him. He tries to cure Shahrukh’s depression ( Abhishek Banerjee Abhishek Banerjee is a writer and actor in Indian >> Read More... ) by becoming a psychiatrist, Pooja. Abu Saleem fixes Sharukh’s marriage with Pooja and announces to pay Rs 50 lakhs to Pooja’s family.
What will Karam do now? What will happen to the love between Karam and Pari?
Ayushmann Khurrana is superb in this film. He excellently plays the character of Pooja. The way he switches from Karam to Pooja is the most impressive part of this film. His dance is excellent. His funny talks are very impressive. Ananya Panday looks beautiful on the screen. However, she fails a little bit in Braj Bhasha's dialogue. Annu Kapoor gave a decent performance. Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav left no chance to impress the viewers.
Like the previous film, Dream Girl 2 is also full of comedy. The one-liner dialogues and the funny jokes make the film engaging. The dialogues are very impactful, and the screenplay is excellent. Ayushmann Khurrana is the strength of this film. His dance moves in the character of Pooja and his comedy take this film to another level.
However, the comedic scenes do not make the viewers laugh in the second half, especially the conversation between Ayushmann and Vijay Raaz. The love story between Karam and Pari is also not developed properly. Moreover, the songs and the production values are dull.
• One-liner dialogues.
• Entertaining funny scenes.
• Mind-blowing performance by Ayushmann Khurrana.
• Ayushmann’s Khurrana’s dance.
• Dil Ka Telephone song.
• The first half is superb.
• The love between Ayushman and Ananya.
• Ayushmann in the character of bar dancer Pooja.
• The screenplay is good.
• Fantastic cinematography.
What’s Not There?
• The songs are average.
• Weak production values and music.
• The second half could be much better.
• The love story is not explored in depth.
Ayushmann Khurrana, the one-liner dialogues, and the comedy hold the film Dream Girl 2 firmly. The first half of the film entertains viewers greatly. The second half is below the expectations of the viewers. However, you will enjoy Ayushmann’s performance and one-liners in this film. Try this film this week.
