Plot
The plot of the story centres around a young girl, Aradhana. She, with her widowed mother lived together. For both of them living in Indian society becomes very challenging as they have to bear taunts and abuse from their neighbours. However, they share a powerful bond. Aradhana is a teenage girl. They live in a small town. The town is very congested and small therefore their life is heavily influenced by the society around them. Both of them face exploitation from society as they have no one to protect her and she lives alone with her mother. One day, her neighbors and her relatives raped and abused her with brutality. Aradhana’s mother is devastated, finding herself helpless. Soon, it’s discovered that Aradhana is pregnant. The rest of the story revolves around the revenge that she takes from the people that raped her. She transforms into an independent woman who lives by her rules.
Star performance
Aradhana is the central character of the story. She delivers a nuanced performance by transforming from a young girl to an independent individual. Her character is very intense and full of emotions. Aradhana’s character makes the basis of the script and highlights the themes of justice and exploitation.
Secondary characters of the movie include Anupam Kher, Shakti Kapoor. Both of them delivered amazing performances. Other supporting cast like Goga Kapoor, Tiku Talsania and Avtar Gill have also contributed positively to the script. Their performances highlight Aradhana’s struggle and barriers in her freedom from exploitative society.
Analysis
The storyline is unique, however it could’ve been executed more effectively. The script of the film is weak. From the beginning, the plot can be predicted. The script revolves around the story of a young school going girl, Aradhana. She is a widow’s daughter. Society treats her differently from other people. She is physically, mentally abused by society. She gets pregnant after her neighbors raped her. The film touches on important themes like women's empowerment, exploitation, and the struggle for justice.
However, the cinematography was very poor. It doesn’t look like the film was shot in 2023. Its cinematography hints as if it is a 90's movie. The script is not so good, but the film's direction is even worse. The plot is fragmented, which makes it challenging to understand the storyline. The script has many action scenes. Even though it is a revenge story, there are many scenes that lack thriller and are less intense than they should be. The soundtrack of the film is very problematic.
