Plot

The movie is set against the backdrop of the film industry. The film’s story revolves around Satindra, a struggling director who wants to make his mark in the industry and wants to work with famous and renounced actors. So, he along with his friend Amar, a writer, starts to search for investors for their new venture. They finally meet Jassu bhai who agrees to invest in their project but on certain conditions. Meanwhile, this director-writer duo meets Raju, a hardcore fan of an actress and wants to act in a movie with her. Throughout the film, their dreams and challenges are humorously shown. Will they be successful in their new project? What did the investor ask in return? The story answers these questions in a dramatically comic way.

Star Performances

Annu Kapoor showcases his acting finesse through his performance in this film. He justified his character’s beliefs and ambitions effortlessly. Manoj Joshi did a fine job portraying Amar. However, he lags behind and is out-performed by his co-leading characters. Rajpal Yadav did nothing different from his past work. His mannerism and comic timing plays very well with the character’s story in the film. The rest of the cast performed as the movie’s story demanded from their characters.

Analysis

‘Non Stop Dhamaal’ is based on the story of two broke but passionate director-writer duo searching for investor for their new project. What one expects from the movie’s premise is a story about their struggles while they are trying to get their so-called big break in the Bollywood Industry against all odds, but what one gets is a film that sidetracks from its basic premise and puts forth a story bombarded with too many twists and turns, which fails to impress viewers. What one expects and what one gets from this film is different. The bizarre storyline of the film concentrates more on the challenges they face to repay the money borrowed from the investor and less on the idea of them making a successful movie. The basic plot premise of the film is based on organ donation of a living person, which is flawed as in India; it isn’t legal to donate organs of a living person. The film tries to create humor through tumultuous confusion, but it fails to deliver. The poorly written and half-baked screenplay throws twists one after the other without giving the audience sufficient time to digest it. The idea of them making a successful movie gets sidelined as the story proceeds. While the jokes used in this movie rarely make the audience laugh, what genuinely brings smile to the face is the body language and mannerism adopted by the actors of the film. The acting performance and the chemistry between the actors make the film engaging. The cinematography is decent. Editing of the film is passable and could have been better. The music of the film is fine.

‘Non-Stop Dhamaal’ turns out to be a failed attempt to present a simple story comically. Rather than focusing on the main plotline, the film puts forth too many twists and turns, which eventually bore the audience. Even when the movie ends, one hardly remembers what the story is really about.
