Plot

A supernatural creature is killing people in a forest. Krish(Ajay Devgn), a wildlife expert, tags along with a few tourists, and teams with Kaali, a village chief, to kill this entity.

Star performance

It's disappointing that a brilliant actor like Ajay Devgn can perform badly. Most of the actors in the film are just challenging each other who can act bad the most. Even the supporting actors are plain terrible. Vivek Oberoi Vivek Anand Oberoi's birth was on 3rd Septembe >> Read More... and John Abraham are just reactionary, and John is not doing anything other than showing his muscles, well you can appreciate that. Lara Dutta and Esha Deol both are terrible, not giving an iota of a genuine reaction.

Analysis

The premise of the film is simple, and can be told simply, only but Sohum Shah chose to complicate it for no reason, also the film is confused in what it wants to showcase, at first it's a thriller then in the last 40 min it decides to be a horror film. Even the horror scenes are shot in such a lazy manner that you wouldn’t give a damn about them. The actresses in the film are mainly for the male gaze, honestly they are in a forest and are dressed up in lingerie WHY???. John Abraham is also utilized in the film in the same manner, showing his abs literally most of the camera shots are focused on his torso. Ajay Devgn's entry is nice, but god the dialogues so cringe you wouldn’t feel invested in the story. Vivek Oberoi, another capable actor, is also just there. The story is predictable and you can guess it in the first 30 min of the film. The screenplay is dull. There are references from many Hollywood films, but there is nothing to look forward to in this film. But the most shocking point is Dharma and Red Chillies backed this project HOW??. From the marketing the expectation was that this is going to be the film of the year, but boy was everybody wrong, the only good thing is a song that features Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora Khan and in general the songs of the film are good. Other than this, this film is an abomination to the horror genre.

What's there?

  • The songs of the film are excellent and catchy.

What's not there?

  • Bad performances from the cast
  • The film is confused in its narrative and genres.
  • The story is heavily predictable. You can guess it in the first 30-40 min of the film
  • The climax would bug and annoy the audience.

Verdict

Honestly, the expectations turned out to be a mess. You can watch it as a parody of a Hindi horror film. And how not to make a horror film.
