Manish Malhotra, is an Indian fashion designer, who has designed outfits for many leading actors and actresses in Bollywood. He is widely regarded as one of India’s ‘crowned fashion designers’. He was born on December 5, 1965 in Westminster, London. Manish Malhotra started up his career as a model, while he was studying in ‘Elphinstone College’ at Mumbai.
His first professional costume design was for the Bollywood actress ‘ Juhi Chawla’ in the movie ‘Swarg’, which was released a couple of decades ago. He won his first ‘filmfare costume award’, for the movie ‘ Rangeela’ in 1995. It gave him much recognizance in Bollywood and paved his way for becoming film city’s ‘most sought after’ costume designer. He has also designed costumes for ‘the King of Pop’, Michael Jackson, his visit to India. Manish Malhotra has launched various high profile couture store, ‘Reverie –Manish Malhotra’ which received majorly positive response and many top rated celebrities and affluent families, throughout the globe became his clients. He has also received praise for creating Glamorous ensembles which strikes a chord with Indian culture.
          His first fashion show, was held in November 1999. His career has till now spanned over 25 years during which he has received over 35 awards and has designed costumes for over 1000 films. He has also been recognized by ‘National Institute of Fashion Technology’ Delhi, for his contribution to fashion design. Apart from film costume design, he has also designed the ‘team gear’ for Shah Rukh Khan’s, Indian Premier League team KOLKATTA KNIGHT RIDERS. He has also undertaken many social endeavors like his association with the ‘Mijwan Welfare Society’, in which he promotes workmanship from rural India. He has also been the host of his talk show named, ‘The Manish Malhotra Show’.

She is a very famous costume designer in India. She was born in Mumbai on 8th of January in the year 1960. She had completed her degree in commerce from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics located in Mumbai in the year 1981. Later on, she had completed her masters in fashion designing from Sophia Polytechnic college situated in Mumbai in the year 1987. After completing her commerce degree, she was attracted towards being a fashion designer in the year 1982. At that time, India had started accepting the modern customs apart from the traditional customs that already existed. Her family had a garments business, into which she had also joined in the year 1982. As the time passed by she grew all the way from the coordinator to the designer within a span of nine years. In the year 1990, she had launched her first designer in menswear, which was the latest fashion at that time in the country. The unique design and outfits earned her popularity in men’s fashion. In the year 1994, she came up with an Indo-west line for women, which were unique during that time in the country. Her brand gained an accelerated growth not only nationally but also internationally. This brand has been promoting the Indian heritage since its establishment. She had established Palanpur Hastakala Pvt. Ltd, which is an NGO that provides employment to men and women who have skills related to hand printing, dyeing, etc. Known as the priestess of classical design, she had been continuing to make them perfect and promoting the Indian Fashion internationally. She had worked with Marc-o-polo for 25 years. She had worked as a board member of Fashion Design Council of India and also IAM (Institute of Apparel Management). She also worked as an advisory board member of Lakme Fashion week. She was associated with ‘Mc.Kinsey’ and ‘KSA Technopak’ for a span of two years. In the year 2001, she was awarded the Fabled peacock award by the government of Gujarat for her service towards saving the earthquake victims. In the year 2004, she was one among the luckiest fashion designers who were chosen for the Milan Fashion week by the Italian Council of India. At the same time, she was also awarded the clothing manufacturers association of India award for the category of best designer in the menswear. Looking at her research and development in the field of designing of textiles and apparels, she was given the ‘Pride of Gujarat’ award.

Masaba Gupta

Masaba Gupta is one of the most accredited and youngest fashion designers of India. She is the proud creator of the ‘Masaba for Satya Paul’ designer wear. Masaba was born to West Indies cricketing legend Vivian ‘Viv’ Richards and National Award recipient Neena Gupta in the year 1989. She spent her childhood in the city of Mumbai and aspired to be a professional tennis player. She dropped her idea of pursuing tennis when she was 14 years old and decided to pursue music and dancing. She wanted to get enrolled in Shiamak Davar’s Institute of Performing Arts (SDIPA) and had undergone training from the master himself. Her mother wasn’t very supportive of her decision and had suggested following something else as she hadn’t found a proper career in dancing. She later moved to London and had undergone a course in music but dropped the course midway and returned to India. In India, she tried to get herself into Radio Jockeying and Acting both which turned out to be unsuccessful. Afterwards, she had made up her mind and decided to join Shreemati Nathibhai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University (SNDT) in Mumbai. She had found a mentor in fashion designer Wendell Rodricks and with him, she had received three awards for her designer collection at her graduation fashion show. Wendells had pushed her to showcase her collection at the GenNext part of Lakme Fashion Week, which took place in Mumbai in 2009. Her first collection named ‘Kattran’ which meant pieces of small fabric was Masaba’s collection that she showcased at the Lakme Fashion Week during her age was just 19. Her collection had won her the Most Promising Designer Award and later in 2010 won the Best Emerging Designer Award from Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan. She had launched her ‘Masaba’ design by the year 2011. Currently, her designs are the favourites among stars such as Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shilpa Shetty and Mandira Bedi. She was married to Madhu Mantena on 9th March 2015.
