Plot
The story revolves around Ghoomketu, an eccentric and ambitious screenwriter from a small village in Uttar Pradesh, determined to make his mark in Bollywood. Defying family expectations and societal pressures, he heads to Mumbai in hopes of becoming a successful screenwriter. In this bustling city, Ghoomketu faces a series of humorous challenges. His lack of knowledge about the industry and his eccentric behavior lead to many hilarious situations. Ghoomketu's attempts to break into the film industry involve several mishaps, including interactions with a host of eccentric characters and a series of failed attempts to pitch his story. Back home, Ghoomketu's family, are unaware of his struggles and continue to pressure him to return to his village. Throughout the film, Ghoomketu’s resilience and unique approach to storytelling eventually help him achieve his big break.
Star Performance
Nawazuddin Siddiqui as always, has managed to deliver a fantastic performance. Anurag Kashyap playing no matter what type of a role is always an impact. Ila Arun proves why she is a seasoned actor. Her acting was very natural and impressive.
Analysis
The film struggles to find its sensibilities. The plot is disjointed and feels very disoriented, followed by abysmal editing. Despite all the flaws, the performances by the seasoned actors are still worth watching. The star of the film is definitely Ila Arun aka Santo Bua, she is likable, funny and completely natural, very impressive. Nawazuddin as Ghoomketu is a struggling writer who explores Bollywood and writes and narrates about different genres including horror, and love stories, as well as discusses item numbers. To break the barrier of watching someone acting onscreen and for the actor to be able to interact and touch the audience directly is something that can only be achieved by an actor of his caliber, and he does it very naturally to say the least. . Anurag Kashyap's brief appearance as Inspector Badlani aka the “Chai Pani Cop”. He’s funny and intelligent but his character is not fully fleshed out, which again could be due to poor editing. The weakest link of the movie is the story and therefore even the stellar star cast can do nothing to improve it. Anurag Kashyap and Ila Arun both stand out in their performances. Ghoomketu goes as a passable flick but the plot becomes a little interesting after some time. The script loses the steam towards the end and the comedy-drama could have been maintained with the momentum that it had built initially. The art direction is pretty simple but nice with no glossy sets. The cinematography is decent while the background music is just about okay.

Verdict
Except for the brilliant onscreen presence of Nawazuddin Siddique, the movie offers very little. The story line is flawed. The other supporting actors did a good job of making the movie watchable.
