Anil

Anil is a film director who has primarily worked in Malayalam film industry. The director was a part of the popular Anil Babu duo. Babu Narayan from the famed duo succumbed to death at the age of 59, in the year 2019 due to Cancer. They had directed more than twenty blockbusters in the industry during the 1990s. 'Maanthrikacheppu' released in the year 1992 was Anil’s third film and Anil Babu’s first film as partners. Later they directed 'Injakkadan Mathayi and Sons', ' Sthreedhanam Sthreedhanam is a Malayalam television serial broa >> Read More... ', 'Kudumba Vishesham', 'Aramanaveedum Anjoorekkarum', 'Kaliyoonjal', 'Pattabhishekam' and 'Mayilpeelikkavu’ together. The movies directed by them were a hit, which turned them into one of the most successful partners in the Malayalam industry.

 In 1992, the famous comedian actor Jagadish played the lead role (solo hero) for the first time in Anil Babu’s film ‘Welcome to Kodaikanal’. In 2004, 'Parayam' was the last movie directed by the duo.

Anil started as a poster boy. He learned to ride a bicycle to work as a poster boy for a local theatre in exchange for movie tickets. This marked the beginning of his journey into Mollywood. Anil’s first film was in the year 1989, titled Anantha Vruthantham, which was followed by Post Box No.27.

Anil, born in 1963, was from the city of Alappuzha in Kerala and was married to the iconic National award-winning actress, Kalpana. Some of his other movies are Street (1995), Kumarasambhavam (2001), Lokanathan IAS (2005), Manthrikan (2012), Climax (2013) and Maiya (2017). His first Film Fare Award was in 1996, followed by Asianet Award (2001), Film Critics Award (2004), and Satyan Memorial Award (2008).
