Swanand Kirkire is a multi-talented personality of Bollywood. He is an actor, lyricist, writer and singer. He was born in 1970 in Indore, India. He belongs to a Marathi-speaking family. His father, Chintamani, and mother, Neelambari, were both classical singers. Swanand, however, had no formal training on singing. His father worked at a public bank and his mother worked at a university. He spent his childhood in Indore and then move to Delhi, where he completed his graduation in Commerce. After graduation, he got a marketing job of selling Eureka Forbes Vacuum Cleaner. Later, he graduated from the National School of Drama in 1996. He started acting in theatre afterwards. He was a crazy about films and used to bunk schools for seeing movies. During his theatre days he had written and directed a play on the Freedom Fighter Bhagat Singh. He started his acting career as a lyricist, assistant director, actor and singer in the film ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ in 2003. The song ‘Bawra Mann Dekhne Chala Sapna’ of this film, which he and written and sang, was a huge hit. As a Lyricist, he also became famous for his songs ‘Bande Me Tha Dum....Vande Mataram’ from ‘’, ‘Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh’ from ‘’, and ‘Piyu Bole’ from ‘’. He won the National awards for ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ (2007) and ‘3 Idiots’ (2009) as Best Lyricist. For the film ‘Parineeta’ (2005) he won the Film Fare Nomination as the Best Lyricist. He also won the Screen Awards for the song ‘Manjha’ from the film ‘Kai Po Che’ (2013). He has acted in television as well. In television, his noted performance was in the serial ‘’. As an actor, he performed in the films ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’(2003) directed by , ‘’ (2004) directed by , ‘Eklavya: The Royal Guard (2007)’ directed by , etc. He was a Dialogue Writer and Associate Director for a number of ‘Chameli’ and other films as well. He is a workaholic, simple and happy guy. The famous poet Gulzar is his idol. His mother also inspires him a lot. He is very emotional. He is still single and is waiting for the right person. He is fighting for the royalty of lyricists, along with the famous lyricist . A multitalented person like Swanand is an asset to Bollywood.
