Plot

The plot of the story revolves around a family. Raj and his wife, Pooja, are a happily married couple. They have four kids, all boys named Ajay, Sanjay, Rohit and Karan. They love their children. However, Raj also adopted a boy named Alok. He fulfilled his every need and Alok is grateful for them as well. However, as Raj retired, he saw the actual behaviour of children towards him. They were disrespectful towards their parents. Raj and Pooja had to leave their house as Raj didn’t have any stable source of income to pay bills. The children decided to split their parents as each would live with one kid for six months. Raj lives with Sanjay and Rohit simultaneously. He was poorly treated. The only love he received was from writing down his emotions and Sanjay’s grandson. However, Pooja stays with Ajay. Everyone mistreated her until she saved her granddaughter from being raped by his boyfriend. After this Payal who is Pooja’s granddaughter treated her nicely.

After a few months, Pooja and Raj got united, and they met Alok, their adopted son. Alok took them to his home and cared for them, far better than their kids. Soon Raj’s book, Baghban got published and with the launch of the book, Raj and Pooja started earning more money than their kids earn. At the book launch, they all came to seek forgiveness, but Raj and Pooja turned them down and disowned them. They then happily get hugged by Payal and Rahul.

Star performance

The main characters of the story are Raj Malhotra and Pooja Malhotra. Amitabh Bachchan played the role of Raj. He delivered a nuanced performance throughout the show. Amitabh perfectly balanced the emotions on the screen. Another important character in the film is Pooja Malhotra. Hema Malini has played her role. Pooja’s character was unique and exciting. Hema perfected depicted emotions connected with her role. The chemistry between both of them is pretty good. They added depth to the movie's script. Analysis

No doubt, Baghban is a fantastic film. The movie’s script is pretty impressive as it’s thought provoking as well. However, there are few scenes in the film that seemed overdone. The first half of the film is terrific as Raj and Pooja were happy with their children, however in the second half as Raj retires, they saw shocking behaviour of their sons towards them. The second half made the movie more emotional and complicated at the same time. The script of the film is tender as it presents critical views on the behaviour of different generations towards older people specially parents. The film's writer did a nuanced social study, making a fantastic film. All the characters in the movie were rightly developed and matured in the film. The supporting and the main actors delivered great performances.

The movie’s cinematography is pretty impressive as it captures the actual vibes of Indian households. The script and its execution in the movie is excellent. The chemistry between the actors like Hema and Amitabh was top notch. The songs used in the film are also good. They evoked a lot of emotions. The movie’s pace is problematic as the film is pretty slow which made it lengthy.
