Late Ravi Chopra was a veteran director who directed a number of successful Bollywood movies and some epic television serials for Indian television Industry. He was the son of late B.R. Chopra and he assisted his father in directing and producing a few Bollywood gems Dastaan (1972) and Dhund (1973). In 1969, he also worked as assistant director and producer for his uncle
Yash Chopra
for the movie Ittefaq. He debuted as an independent director for the movie Zameer in 1975 and after that, he directed some more highly successful movies such as The Burning Train, Mazdoor, Aaj Ki Awaj, Dahleez, Baghban, and Baabul.

Ravi Chopra showed a great interest in Indian epics and directed the epical television series Mahabharat for Doordarshan National television channel which was aired from 1988 to 1990 on Indian national television channel. After that, he also directed a mini-series Ramayana in 2002. He continued to direct and work for some other mythological television shows such as Maa Shakti and Vishnu Puran. Recently, he was about to start directing another mythological television series
Vasudev Krishna
which was scheduled to be started in 2014-2015; however, his sudden demise because of lung cancer ended this project even before it could start. Ravi Chopra died on November 12th 2014, at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
