Ganjendra Chauhan is an Indian veteran actor who is popular for his role of Yudhisthira in the mythological television serial Mahabharata. He has acted in a number of movies and television serials.

Gajendra Chauhan is an Indian actor who has worked on a number of television series and Bollywood movies. According to resources, he has worked in more than 600 television serials in different languages. Despite this long list of television serials for which he has worked, the most popular and successful that he has played till that can be said as that of Dharamraj Yudhishthira which he played for the mega television series Mahabharat. This mythological Hindu epic television series was telecasted on Doordarshan National television during the years 1988 and 1990. It was a weekly series which was produced B.R. Chopra and the director was Ravi Chopra. Gajendra Chauhan was also selected for the role of Krishna in the television series Krishna; however, after shooting 2 episodes of this series, he left the role.

Gajendra Chauhan was born on the 10 Oct 1956 in Delhi. He is 5.7 Inches tall. His full name is Gajendra Singh Chauhan. He lived in Khanpur in West Delhi. He did his schooling and college from Delhi. He then did a diploma in Radiography and served at a medical school but was never satisfied. So, he left his job and pursued his dream of working in the glamour industry. He went to Mumbai with only an address of Roshan Taneja, a famous acting professor and joined his acting school. Thus began his journey in the world of glamour. 

He remembers that the real struggle started after finishing the course. Though he had signed 34 films in just 27 days, it was of no use, as they all remained only on paper. He had to live on salt water as he had no money left. After a long wait, he finally signed his first movie called Lalooram which released in 1985. Since the movie did not do well and there were no good work coming by, he turned towards TV. He worked in good serials like Rajni, Darpan & Air Hostess. However, he is best known for his role of Yudhistira in the popular serial Mahabharata. He has worked in more than 600 TV serials. Some TV Serials in which he acted are Mahabharata, Mohini, Aane Wala Pal, Raavan, Nagin - Waadon Ki Agnipariksha, Shobha Somnath Ki and Adaalat.

About acting in Mahabharata, he reminisces that he was signed on to play Krishna’s role and even shot 2 episodes as Krishna, but the project got delayed by 80 days. During that period, he put on weight as he signed films in South and those characters demanded that. When he came back for Mahabharata, he was kicked out as he no longer looked the part. He became depressed as he had lost a good opportunity but luck favored him and he was called to play the role of Yudhisthira. He recalls that within six months of the serial going on-air, all became stars as Mahabharata enjoyed 99.6% viewership which has been the highest ever. 

Rahul Gandhi wanted to meet the whole cast of Mahabharata, but the creative director refused since they were shooting back-to-back and the schedule could not be disrupted. When they got this news, they knew that their lives had changed. They were being recognised wherever they went. He is one of the multi-talented actors in Bollywood who has worked in more than 150 movies. Some of his famous movies are Dancer, Dilwale Kabhi Na Hare, Pathreela Raasta, Hum Sab Chor Hain, Vishwavidhaata, International Khiladi, Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet, Billa No. 786, Aaj Ka Ravan, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, Andaaz, Baghban, Nakshatra, Isi Life Mein. He joined the BJP in 2004 and actively canvassed for party candidates in the elections. He appealed to people to register themselves as voters wherever he went for canvassing. He is enjoying his role in politics too. He has no complaints from life and believes that God has been benevolent to him. Gajendra Chauhan is married to Habiba.
